Asbury Park, NJ – March 27, 2026 – Big Brothers Big Sisters of Coastal & Northern New Jersey (BBBSCNNJ) is proud to announce that it has been honored with an official proclamation from the City of Asbury Park, recognizing the organization’s impact and commitment to youth mentorship throughout the community.
The proclamation was presented at a recent City Council meeting, highlighting the importance of mentorship and the role BBBSCNNJ has played in helping young people realize their full potential through one-to-one relationships with caring adult mentors.
“We are incredibly grateful to the City of Asbury Park for this recognition,” said William Salcedo, Executive Director of BBBSCNNJ. “This proclamation is a reflection of the dedication of our Bigs, Littles, families, and community partners who make this work possible every day.”
Coinciding with this recognition, BBBSCNNJ is also excited to launch its Paint the Town Green campaign beginning April 1. The month-long initiative invites Asbury Park businesses, organizations, and residents to show their support for mentorship by incorporating green into their storefronts, workplaces, and daily routines.
Participating businesses across Asbury Park will “go green” in creative ways – through window displays, special promotions, staff engagement, and more – helping to spark conversations about the power of mentorship and the ongoing need for volunteers.
As BBBSCNNJ celebrates its 50th anniversary this year, the campaign serves as both a tribute to its legacy and a call to action for the future.
“Paint the Town Green is about visibility, community pride, and collective impact,” Salcedo added. “When a town comes together like this, it sends a powerful message to young people that they are supported and that their futures matter.”
Community members or businesses interested in participating in Paint the Town Green should visit www.mentornj.org/AsburyParkPTTG or call 732-544-2224.
