Big Brothers Big Sisters of Coastal & Northern New Jersey (BBBSCNNJ) proudly announces the renaming of its annual golf outing to the Pete McGuigan Memorial Golf Outing, honoring the legacy of longtime board member, First Vice-President, and dedicated mentor, Pete McGuigan.

This year’s event will be held on Monday, August 25^th at Manasquan River Golf Club, bringing together friends, family, supporters, sponsors, and community members to raise vital funds that support one-to-one mentoring relationships for local youth.

Pete McGuigan played an instrumental role in the growth and success of BBBSCNNJ. For over a decade, he led the agency’s golf outing – known previously as “FORE! the Kids’ Sake Golf Outing” – building it into one of the organization’s most successful and anticipated fundraising events. As a board leader, generous donor, and passionate advocate, Pete exemplified service and stewardship in every sense. His 12-year mentorship with his Little Brother, Daniel, remains one of the agency’s most impactful stories of connection and personal growth.

Pete’s efforts were matched by fellow board member John Harris, whose ongoing leadership and commitment have also been essential in growing and sustaining this annual event. Together, Pete and John helped transform the outing into a signature fundraiser that has advanced the agency’s mission and expanded its reach.

“Renaming our golf outing in Pete’s honor is more than symbolic, it’s a way to carry forward his legacy of generosity, dedication, and belief in the power of mentorship,” said William Salcedo, Executive Director of BBBSCNNJ. “Pete was not only a leader in our organization, but someone who lived our mission. He changed lives, and we are proud to celebrate his memory in a way that continues the work he cared so deeply about.”

All proceeds from the Pete McGuigan Memorial Golf Outing will benefit BBBSCNNJ’s mentoring programs, which currently support over 1,900 children and teens annually across Bergen, Hunterdon, Middlesex, Monmouth, Morris, Ocean, Passaic, Somerset, Sussex, and Warren counties.
