About 150 people gathered to learn an important skill as they took part in the 16th annual World’s Largest Swimming Lesson at Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson on June 26.

The participants in the lesson, which was held at Blue Lagoon in Hurricane Harbor, included children and mentors from Big Brothers Big Sisters of Coastal & Northern New Jersey.
They joined with hundreds of waterparks, aquatic centers and swim schools across the country in the initiative, which aims to expand access to lifesaving aquatic education.
The World’s Largest Swimming Lesson was launched by the World Waterpark Association in 2010 as a global drowning prevention event.
After the morning lesson, participants and their families enjoyed a full day at the waterpark.
